Samurai Sour
The Quest for the Dankest Sour
(Rez Sour D 2007 IBL x Headbanger) x (Sower Power OG)

Sour D has always been one of—if not the—greatest smokes on earth. I’ve loved Sour since the first cutting I ever got back in the old forum days. When I made the first cross that would eventually become Samurai Sour, I never imagined where it would take me.
That first cross used a Headbanger male from breeder Karma onto my Sour D cut. Karma is an awesome dude and has always been super supportive of me. Since Headbanger has SFV OG in it, I saw a ton of variation in that first line. My keeper female was already a lot closer to what I wanted, but she had a terrible structure and an overall look that wouldn’t meet today’s bag-appeal standards.
Next, I used a very special Sour Power OG male I found while working a large rec grow in WA to pollinate that female. This male had a shorter structure and was very stable. From those seeds, I selected around seven different males that all exhibited the morphological traits of Sour D, and I used them to pollinate the best Sour D–leaning females I could find.
From the F2 generation, I started recovering a phenotype that really set itself apart from the others. I called this phenotype “The Reaper” as it had pitch-black leaves and a wicked look to her. The smell was like pure Sour D—sharp—with a slick, oily resin.
From there, I used a technique called specific combining ability testing to pair certain males with specific females and test them for the best ability to combine genes and create the best offspring. I made around 20 different F3s and began testing each of them for the best reproduction of Reaper phenotypes. I saw many amazing combinations in those seeds, but none of them were throwing Reaper phenotypes at a very high rate.
At this point, using a reversal was on the table, but I decided to go back and reselect another male and new females for the F2. This time around, I selected from over 300 females and close to the same number of males. I found a male that had many of the traits the first one was missing, and three exceptional Reaper plants. Using the same SCA test with these, I make the new Samurai Sour lines that offer what I think are the Dankest versions of Sour Cannabis on the market today. I continue to work on these Samurai Sour F3 lines and use them as breeding partners for my new crosses.

Grow Info
Samurai Sour Reaper
Flowering Time: 9-11 weeks
Stretch: Fast Growth and 3-4x stretch in flower
Feed Style: handles high ec feeds and soil systems
Growing Conditions: Multi topped is best due to high stretch
Yield: 1.3-2g per watt depending on phenotype and grow style
Main phenotype will produce black leaves with an intense resin that comes on early in flower. Resin is very oily and smells of sharp and acrid diesel OG. The effect is immediate and heady but also clear and witty. The flavor coats your mouth like true old school sour. Plants enjoy warm rooms in early phases and have very high flower to leaf ratio making processing simple. Makes amazing concentrates due to flavor passing.
